WordPress 3.03 Is Released

Have you ever noticed how WordPress likes to release updates right when you’re ready to go to bed? And you seem to think “hey wait, didn’t I just update this site last week?”

Yep, WordPress has released a new update just a few days after the latest update to 3.02. This latest update is version 3.03 and is released as a security update. Here’s what the WordPress team says about the update…

This release fixes issues in the remote publishing interface, which under certain circumstances allowed Author- and Contributor-level users to improperly edit, publish, or delete posts.

In other words, if you publish remotely to your WordPress website, this is a security update you want to do right away. If you don’t publish remotely, it’s not a critical update. But the general suggestion from Stop WordPress Hackers is that you always keep your website updated to the latest stable version.

The files affected in this update are the following:

wp-includes/version.php
xmlrpc.php
readme.html
wp-admin/includes/update-core.php
